My name is Stephanie Sanders and I am the inaugural music specialist at Barton Pond Elementary! I want to start the year off by providing the students, staff, and community with information about my background. I started playing music at my local church as a child at the age of 9. I started out on the drum set and I also participated in my church's youth choir. These activities motivated me to become an active member of the chorus at Lynn Road Elementary School in Raleigh, North Carolina. After leaving Lynn Road, I participated in the band as a percussionist at East Wake Middle School and East Wake High School. I had so much fun in these music programs that I decided to major in music as an adult and obtain bachelor's and master's degrees in music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After leaving Greensboro, I began working as a music specialist at Forestville Road Elementary in Knightdale, North Carolina in August of 2012. I have worked with the students, staff, and community at Forestville for the last 10 years and I am excited to be at Barton Pond Elementary. I am looking forward to establishing a fun, engaging, and multifaceted music program for the students of Barton Pond!
